WHO Collaborating Center for Worldwide Reference on Comparative Oncology
Terms of reference:
- Laboratory Animal Medicine

Consultation
- To assemble, tentatively define histopathologically, and
selectively store animal tumor material and data.
- To study classification and nomenclature in liaison with
WHO Collaborating Centers for comparative oncology and with WHO
reference centers for human tumors with a view to arriving at
a system that is generally agreed.
- To collate and analyze relevant epidemiological data.
- To supply reference preparations and study sets to recognized
institutions, veterinary and human, when feasible to do so.
- To advise on identification and classification of animal
tumor material submitted by national and other recognized laboratories.
- To offer facilities for advanced study, training and research
to workers from other institutions and countries, as far as facilities
permit.
- To prepare and maintain a bibliographical reference system
on animal tumors.
- To cooperate with WHO/HQ and WHO collaborating centers in
comparative oncology on all these matters, especially classification..
- To report to WHO/HQ on the foregoing activities at suitable
intervals.
