Diagnosis: Anorectal junction polyp: Inflammatory cloacogenic polyp. Comment: The lesion has such typical features as: partially eroded surface with fibrinous cap, remnants of squamous epithelium, expansion of lamina propia with inflammatory cells giving in part a villous appearance, infiltration of the upper mucosa by smooth muscle strands, regenerative atypia of the bases of the glands with maturation towards the surface.
