Chest Plain Film
The extent of radiographic findings in patients with SARS is variable. The majority of patients (78%) have abnormal radiographs at the time of presentation. Approximately half demonstrate a focal, unilateral area of consolidation. The remainder demonstrate more extensive disease. All patients eventually develop an abnormal chest radiograph. These findings are consistent with a bronchopneumonia. The chest radiograph (left) in a patient with SARS demonstrates focal areas of consolidation in the left lower lobe and right suprahilar area.
