Minor ulcerative lesion
Histology: small ulcer, AFB limited to central slough containing all AFB.
Photographs show a minor ulcerative lesion that is well-demarcated and healing (top left), and a gross cut section of minor ulcer, in which the central necrotic slough is walled off and being extruded (top right). Photomicrographs demonstrate undermining of ulcer and re-epithelialization of the dermal flap (bottom left), and central slough containing large numbers of extracellular AFB (bottom right, Ziehl-Neelsen stain).
