Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL), an infection by protozoan parasites of the genus Leishmania, is being seen in increasing numbers of military and civilian personnel deployed to Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. This website outlines the epidemiology, clinical and laboratory diagnosis, and treatment of this disease, and is a collaborative effort of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, the American Registry of Pathology, and Walter Reed Army Medical Center Washington, DC.
